What I Wore to London Fashion Week: The Pippa Todorson Lime Grace Dress

From a flower-filled unboxing to an intimate presentation inside a historic London church, a closer look at the dress I wore to Pippa Todorson’s Layered Form SS27 show.

Sometimes the experience of a piece begins before you ever wear it.

My Lime Grace dress arrived carefully presented in a box, surrounded by delicate flower details. Against the vivid lime fabric and translucent pink organza, the presentation felt like an introduction to the dress itself: expressive, feminine and considered, without being overly precious.

It immediately felt like the right piece to wear to Pippa Todorson’s London Fashion Week presentation.

The Lime Grace dress

The Lime Grace dress is created in a bright lime textured fabric, with a clean, elongated silhouette and a softly gathered neckline.

The shape is relatively restrained. It falls smoothly along the body and finishes below the knee, allowing the colour and surface of the fabric to make the first impression.

Its defining feature is the sculptural shoulder arrangement: layers of translucent pink organza combined with handmade fabric flowers in contrasting tones. I chose to position the detail across the shoulder and neckline, creating a sense of movement around an otherwise streamlined silhouette.

What makes the design particularly interesting is that the shoulder accessory is removable. With the flowers and organza attached, the dress becomes an expressive occasion piece. Without them, the same silhouette feels cleaner and more minimal.

That adaptability gives the dress a life beyond one event. The floral element can become the focus, be styled more subtly or be removed completely depending on the setting. It is a statement dress, but it doesn’t prescribe only one way of wearing it.

For the show, I styled it with a black Chanel bag and cream-and-black slingback shoes. Keeping the accessories classic allowed the colour and floral construction of the dress to remain central.

Inside Style Intersect

Pippa Todorson presented her Layered Form SS27 collection as part of Style Intersect at the Guild Church of St Katharine Cree during London Fashion Week.

The collection explored the relationship between strength and softness through sculptural silhouettes, fluid forms and contrasting materials. Those ideas were also visible in the Lime Grace dress: the clarity of its silhouette set against the delicacy and movement of the organza flowers.

Rather than feeling like a conventional runway show, the presentation had an intimate, installation-like atmosphere.

A church transformed

The historic church was decorated with suspended wooden clothes hangers, panels of white lace, pale roses, orchids and twisted branches. Against the architecture of the church, these materials felt both unexpected and completely at home.

I particularly loved the contrast between the solidity of the building and the fragility of the installation. Lace and flowers softened the space, while the bare branches and repeated hangers introduced structure and rhythm.

The decorations did more than create a beautiful setting. They extended the ideas within the collection into the surrounding environment: structure against softness, history against modern design, and everyday fashion objects presented almost as sculpture.

It was one of those occasions when the venue became part of the creative language of the show rather than simply its backdrop.

The experience around the presentation

Guests were welcomed with drinks on arrival, which gave everyone time to take in the space and the installation before the presentation began.

Each guest also received a small gift from the show. It was a thoughtful final detail and reflected the intimacy of the event, something that can easily be lost within the scale and pace of Fashion Week.

These details weren’t extravagant, but they felt carefully considered. Together, they created an experience that felt warm, personal and connected to the designer’s world.

The final edit

What stayed with me was the sense of contrast running through the entire occasion.

The dress was bold in colour but refined in silhouette. Its floral detail was romantic but sculptural. The church was historic, while the presentation felt contemporary. Even the installation balanced softness with structure.

That is also what I increasingly look for in fashion: pieces with presence, but also with thought behind them.

The Lime Grace dress made an impact without needing excessive styling, and its removable floral construction gives it more versatility than its first impression might suggest. It is a piece that can change according to how and where it is worn.

For London Fashion Week, the full organza and floral arrangement felt exactly right.
